How to make Orange and Chocolate Cake
- To prepare the orange and chocolate cake, first grate the orange peel, from the same, with the help of a citrus squeezer, extract the juice and pour it on the grated peel.
- Put the candied orange in a mixer, add the freshly prepared juice and blend until you get a semi-liquid concentrated paste For convenience, you can add diced candied orange.
- In a bowl, crack the eggs, add the sugar and mix with an electric mixer for a few minutes. Continue to work with the mixer and add the flour and yeast a little at a time, previously sieved, alternating them with the seed oil.
- Then add the orange paste and work for a few more minutes until well incorporated. Quickly crush the chocolate chips in the mixer and add them to the mixture. Mix with a spatula.
- Pour everything into a 20 cm diameter spring form pan, previously buttered and floured. Bake in a static oven, preheated, at 170°C for 45 minutes. Do the toothpick test to check the cooking. If consumed within 2-3 days, the orange and chocolate cake can be stored in a cake carrier at room temperature. If you prefer a longer storage, you can place the cake in the refrigerator, in a closed container, where it will stay fresh for 4-5 days. To store it for a longer period, you can freeze it. Cut it into slices and wrap them individually in cling film, then place them in a freezer bag or in an airtight container. The frozen cake keeps well for up to 2 months.
