How to Make the Perfect Mojito at Home

The Mojito is a delicious cocktail of Cuban origin  perfect for aperitif and after dinner ; made with white rum , cane sugar , lime juice, mint leaves and soda ; which mixed together, with the addition of ice , give life to a fresh , fizzy , very fragrant ,  sweet alcoholic drink with bitter notes ! Here for you is the Mojito Recipe accompanied by ingredients , procedure and all the advice illustrated with step-by-step photos to make yourself in a few moves a homemade Mojito as delicious as the one in the best bars !

Like every traditional recipe we have different versions. The one I’m giving you today is the original Mojito recipe given to me by a professional bartender friend  who is giving me lots of tips on how to prepare cocktails! It is a very quick and easy preparation .

Use fresh mint with a sprig (which is its most aromatic part ) and possibly organic lime . The secret to an excellent result is to never crush the mint ! But rub it so that it releases all its scent directly into the typical mojito glass , the tall tumbler . Excellent cold, the Mojito should be enjoyed immediately after making it otherwise there is a risk that the soda will lose its bubbles. Ideal for an aperitif , accompanied by finger food and savoury snacks . But also as a post-dinner drink on summer evenings together with a good fresh dessert such as Cheesecake , Tiramisu or Millefoglie ! You decide! It’s fantastic!

    How to make Mojito

  1. First of all, pour the sugar and mint leaves directly into the tall mojito glasses and, using a pestle or a long wooden spoon, rub them without crushing them to ensure that they release the essential oils.
  2. Then add the rum, the filtered lime juice and the soda and finally mix with a tall teaspoon for just a moment so as not to deflate the drink.
  3. Finally add the ice cubes and decorate with a few sprigs of mint and, if you like, very thin slices of lime.
  4. Here is your Mojito ready !
